One of my favorite color combinations is pink and navy...ultra preppy, but still modern and fun! Actually, the great thing about navy is that is can basically be paired with almost any color! Yellow, coral, mint, red, even fushia...it all looks great!

I don't know about you, but every Monday morning it's so hard for me to get out of bed and get back into the work week routine. I usually find myself sticking with the basics as I get dressed those mornings, in this case black skinny slacks and a b+w striped blouse. I added my "kate-spade inspired" necklace from Urban Peach Boutique (only $15!) for a pop of color and was good to go!

Though we're closing in on the end of April, the weather has cooled down quite a bit this week. I didn't want to have to break out the winter clothes again, so I decided to try a layered look with a few spring pieces. A great way to utilize some of your spring skirts/dresses on cooler days is to add a blazer, a lightweight scarf, and black tights. Warm enough to get you through the day, but you're still dressed for spring!

As you've probably noticed, fit and flare dresses are everywhere this season. Not only are they my favorite style of dress, but they're also ultra flattering and look good on just about every body type. Fitted on top, they highlight the smallest part of your body (your waist) while camouflaging the widest (your hips).

Happy Friday! I don't know about you ladies, but I'm soooo ready for the weekend! I'll be heading to a wedding in Capitola on Saturday and celebrating Easter with an all day BBQ/family reunion on Sunday so it looks like it'll be a non-stop weekend for me!

This J. Crew shift dress is probably one of the most worn items in my closet. Originally purchased on clearance in orange (last seen here), I searched high and low on eBay until I found the blue version in my size as well!

A lightweight wool fabric, this dress can be worn year round. I often wear layered over an oxford shirt, alone with heels and a belt in the warmer summer months, layered over a turtleneck and tights in the winter, and under a cardigan or blazer as you see in these photos today.

One dress and literally dozens of different looks...the perfect closet staple!


P.S. J. Crew Factory made a version of this dress in a cotton/linen fabric this season too...fully lined in a great turquoise color!

This plaid shirt was something of an impulse purchase almost four years ago...I literally walked by the display at Target, threw it in the cart and went about my shopping. Fast forward four years, and I've worn this shirt countless times, whether it's with jeans as you see above, under a v-neck sweater, or paired with a summer skirt, it's definitely served me well.

While Andrea Everyday is primarily a fashion blog, I'd say it's also something of a a lifestyle blog. A big part of my life is running, so I wanted to share a little bit of my lifestyle with all of you today...running!

So, I know that Lulu Lemon is everywhere these days, and while they do make great items...so do a lot of other lower priced brands! I know, I know...now Lulu Lemon is never going to sponsor one of my posts, but I'm okay with that! The whole idea behind Andrea Everyday is that the everyday girl can be stylish and look great without spending a ton of money!

Before I start talking about cost, let's start with running gear basics. First, stay away from cotton! Cotton fabrics absorb moisture (aka sweat) and take forever to dry, leaving you wet and cold. A general rule of thumb is to stick with synthetic fabrics that wick away moisture for all athletic activities, not just running. I don't even wear cotton socks...I buy socks specifically labeled for running and "quick dry." Trust me, your feet will thank you! Next, running is a high impact sport so you're going to want to wear a medium to high-impact sports bra (depending on how large your little ladies are).

As you can see above, I've put together an assortment of my favorite sports bras, running tanks, and running leggings from lower priced stores that include Target, Old Navy, H&M, and Forever 21...all priced below $30. While none of these carry a designer logo, these are all products I've use and wear frequently and they're awesome!

One item I refuse to skimp on however, is my running shoes. Quality shoes are the most important piece of gear you're going to wear when running and it's sooooo important to protect your feet to prevent injuries. A proper fitting shoe (always go up half a size) can help prevent everything from plantars, to shin splints, to knee pain. Moral of the story, if you're saving money on the rest of your gear, you owe it to yourself to invest in a quality pair of running shoes!

A couple of my other running "must-haves" include a long sleeve light weight running jacket for colder weather (this one is great...thumb holes!), an arm band for your phone, and a great running playlist!

I'm not sure why, but lately I've been wearing a lot of black + white. Whether it's stripes, polka dots, plaid, you name it...I have it in bb+w! Look, even my phone case happens to be b+w!

I wanted to add a little color to my outfit this morning though, so I put on the brightest coat I own. Purchased a few months back, this is probably my favorite eBay purchase ever! This coat is from the fall 2010 collection at Old Navy, but I never got around to finding the yellow version in my size, so thanks eBay!

I'm not sure what happened to the beautiful spring weather we were enjoying a few weeks ago, but it's been cold and rainy most of the week here in northern California. What a way to kick off April!

I don't know about you, but I'm already dreaming of sand in my toes and drinks by the pool...I think it's time to plan some summer get aways!

As you can see above, I've been leaning towards a lot of one-pieces and boy shorts this season. As an added bonus, the retro look is flattering on nearly every body type! I'm also loving this striped one-piece, classic black retro suit, belted coral suit, and my absolute favorite...this b+w striped one-piece!

This chambray shirt has become such a staple in my closet. It can be paired with almost any skirt, pants, and layered under shift dresses...the perfect piece for work when you're in a rush and don't know what to wear! Add a couple of pieces of jewelry and you're ready to go!
